University Affiliate Resources

The Healing, Training, and Research Clinic does not offer mental health services to students or employees of the university community.

Enrolled students are directed to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Counseling Center.

Employees are directed to Faculty and Staff Assistance and Well-Being Services.

Services We Offer

Individual Counseling Appointments

The Clinic offers free, time-limited individual counseling:
  • Offered IN-PERSON at the College of Education
  • For community members ages 18 and older
  • Short-term, 50-minute counseling appointments (January 20 - May 8, 2026 ONLY)
  • Culturally responsive, evidence-based approaches in a safe, supportive environment
  • No-cost services for clients
  • We do NOT offer drop-in or emergency services.

Psychoeducational Workshops

The Clinic offers community workshops on a variety of topics tailored to your community group's needs:
  • Interactive programming on topics related to mental health and wellness
  • One-time presentations or timed services workshops
  • Practical, accessible sessions on topics such as stress management, emotional wellness and navigating relationships
  • Contact us to discuss the possibility of developing a custom workshop for your group!

Thinking About Counseling? How To Find Out If Our Services Are Right For You

  1. Complete our Inquiry Form.
  2. A clinic representative will contact you by phone to ask you some questions which will help determine if the Clinic is a good fit for you.
  3. Based on your conversation with the clinic representative, you will either be scheduled for an appointment at the Clinic or provided with information for other services on campus or in the community.

Our Philosophy

The Counseling Psychology Program (CPP) places a high priority on the development of students’ multicultural competence in both research and practice. The clinic adopts a multicultural perspective as outlined by the APA Guidelines on Multicultural Education, Training, Research, Practice, and Organizational Change for Psychologists and the APA Division 17: Society of Counseling Psychology.
