About Services

Who are our counselors and what are their qualifications?

Our student counselors are first or second-year Master's of Science (M.S.) in Mental Health Counseling or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Counseling Psychology students. 

Is this service confidential?

Yes, mental health counseling services are confidential and protected by Illinois law with important exceptions related to potential imminent risk of harm to self or others. 

How much do sessions cost?

There is currently no cost for services. 

What are your hours of operation?

Our counselors set their own schedules in collaboration with clients Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8AM-5PM during the spring semester. We do not have reception staff on-site. 

Getting Started

How do I schedule my first session?

  • First, complete the Inquiry Form to schedule a 20-minute initial screening with a Clinic Representative to determine if our services are a good fit for you at this time. 
  • If you are a good fit for what we offer, you will be assigned to a counselor and notified by email.

How do I reschedule or cancel an appointment?

  • To reschedule or cancel an appointment, contact your assigned counselor directly by email. 
  • The Clinic has a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you do not cancel with 24-hour advanced notice continued services may be delayed or you may be placed on our client waitlist. 
  • If you wish to stop (terminate) sessions, please contact your counselor for next steps. Your counselor may request that you attend a final meeting to discuss referral options or next steps.

How long are counseling sessions?

Counseling sessions are typically 50 minutes in length and scheduled once a week. 

Do you offer in-person, virtual, or both types of sessions?

We currently only offer in-person counseling session.

How many sessions will I need?

Counseling is a highly individualized process!

You will work collaboratively with a counselor to determine the number of sessions that may be appropriate for you. 

Getting Here/Parking

Where are you located?

  • We are located on the first floor (entry level) of the College of Education on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus. 
  • The Clinic is located in Suite 188 which best accessed through the north doors of the building.
  • Look for a sign on the door indicating "Counseling Psychology Clinic." 
  • Have a seat in the entrance lobby and your counselor will come out to greet you.

Which bus lines serve the College of Education?

There are multiple bus lines which stop at or near the College of Education where our clinic is located.

Where can I park?

  • Parking on the Illinois campus is limited.
  • There are metered parking spots on the streets surrounding the College of Education and in the lot associated with Krannert Art Museum (Lot E-19 entrance on Peabody across the street)
  • There are also metered parking spots available in the parking deck south of the Law School (Lot E-15)
